This excellent quote by George Bernard Shaw really sums up what Stephen Hawking did to inspire the world. Even after being diagnosed with motor neuron disease, he did not give up on his ambitions, and look where he is today-regarded as one of the best theoretical physicists of all time.

Stephen Hawking is a British physicist, cosmologist and author born on 8 January 1942 in Oxford, England. When he turned 21, he was diagnosed with motor neuron disease, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, which only got worse with time. But the slow progression of his disease made it possible for him to make ground-breaking discoveries in the field of physics and cosmology. When he got to know about his disease, he was shocked-as the fact that he may not live long loomed on him. But he carried on with his studies and work, like a true hero and attained the level of success he has today. That is what inspires me the most. Even after knowing that he may be dead in a few years and may not be able to finish what he started, he carried on with it and was successful. His amazing mind and strong willpower to carry on a normal life is what made him successful. The sheer fact that he stood firm even after knowing that he may die is so inspiring, awe-inspiring, strengthening, motivating…. The world will remember him as a great physicist, cosmologist-but I would remember him as a true hero-one who never gave up on his ambitions. He helps me to believe again and again “WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH THE TOUGH GET GOING”.He has made me understand the difference between “living” and “existing”.

Stephen Hawking you are My True Hero! May God grant him a long Life!
